History
Master Linus Degazon
THE MAN AND HIS WORK
INTRODUCTION
In martial arts, metamorphosis or transformation is a goal often pursued
by many a practitioner. To merge from a man to an eagle, tiger or dragon
has been the desire to many. However, very few individuals have been
able to achieve such a feat. Those who have been successful have left
permanent footprints in the cement of mankind. Great martial artist,
Master Degazon, has attained a state of metamorphosis and his
achievement will be forever remembered.
THE EARLY YEARS
After nine months of eager waiting, Mr. Pamhphile and Mrs. Degazon
of St. Lucia, were finally relieved on the 26th of April 1968. His birth
brought relief to his mother who often complained that the unborn
child moved about vigorously in her womb as if he was in a fight.
Master Degazon experienced a very hectic and troublesome
childhood. He found himself in countless fights and was often
threatened to be sent to a juvenile center by his father. The older
boys in the neighborhood recognised his aggression and resilient
nature and so encouraged him to take up martial arts. This he did at
the tender age of ten. In 1978, under the supervision of affiliate black
belt Sensei Rawlings Ferdinand (who now resides in Canada) he began
his initial training. He never officially joined Sensei Ferdinand's dojo but
he was trained by befriended black belts in a local park. These black belts
recognized his fire and fury and so encouraged him to join Clifton Sealy's
Collage of Martial Arts. This he did in 1980.

From 1980 - 1982, Master Degazon mainly trained on weekends due to
academic demands placed upon him by his parents. In the summer of
1982 he resumed active trained and took part in his first martial arts
tournament (which was held by his dojo). He captured first places in the
junior forms and free sparring divisions. In December of that same year
he took part in a national tournament and repeated his achievements of
the previous tournament. In 1984, Master Degazon captured the title of
Karateka Of The Year and was awarded treats and trophies by the local
Honorable Minister of Sports.

Throughout the 80's Master Degazon participated in numerous national,
regional and international martial arts tournaments. He found himself
constantly placing in the first three positions while participating in
Open Hand Forms, Weapon Forms and Free Sparring divisions.
During this position he was nicknamed the "KATA KING" and the
"LUCIAN NINJA" for he was apparently undefeated in Open Hand Forms.

THE BEGINNING OF LINJITSU
In 1985, Master Degazon recieved his first degree black belt. The following
year he was made assistant instructor of his dojo. Without any conscious effort
he commanded respect and was presented with the love of the lower and higher
ranking belts. In 1987, the idea of forming his own unique system plagued his
mind. He was not satisfied with the street effectiveness of the system he
practiced then. He spoke to Sensei Sealy about his dissatisfaction and so the
two of them, along with some other black belts, decided to develop a system
known as "LUCIAN FIST". This system demonstrated effective street self
defense techniques. Master Degazon, however, was still not satisfied with
their developments. He wanted more KUNG-FU and TAE KWON DO
implimented into the system. He argued that street tactics were not
sufficient for overall spiritual development. He maintained that he was
a martial artist and not a brawler. He thus started developing his own
philosophy and system of self defense but he kept his knowledge and
intentions to himself.

After recieving a second degree black belt in SHOTOKAN and JU-JITSU,
he left his Sensei to develop his system of LINJITSU.

In 1989, Master Degazon along with (entrepreneur) Shodan John Edwards
and Nidan Owen Gabriel (medical student), founded Black Dragon Karate International.
Their links with various social backgrounds allowed great human diversity to be
presented in their training camp. These initial students of 1989 dropped
the pebble in the pool of martial arts, interfering with the
"still" martial art systems of St. Lucia.
The ripple effect of this pebble is still being felt today.

However, not completely satisfied with his martial arts knowledge,
Master Degazon decided to solicit the help of Master Basille Blasse.
Master Blasse has spent the past 25 years of his life studying various styles
of martial arts in the orient. He has a fourth degree black belt in Shotokan
karate, is a master of five animal styles and other styles including
Penkat Silat, Muy Thai and Tai Chi. He was also a prized fighter.
Under Master Blasse, Master Degazon recieved valuable knowledge
which increased his desire to develop a completely flawless system.

The extra training in the Kung Fu systems helped to reinforce
Master Degazon's desire to create a system which rendered
similarities of the four major elements of nature. That of
wind, water, fire and earth (metal). A style which was
evasive, fierce, resilient and unstoppable.
Master Degazon was awarded a fourth degree black belt under
Master Blasse in 1991.

To compliment his Kung-Fu training Master Degazon
studied a style called Hawk Kwan Do. It was a spin off of
Tae Kwon Do and was taught by Master Butcher of St. Lucia.
Master Degazon recieved a fourth degree black belt in this system in 1992.

From this point on it has been earth, wind and fire.
Total domination for local and regional tournaments.

CURRENT
Today Master Degazon is one of the technical directors the St. Lucia
Martial Arts Commission. Master Degazon is also considered to be the
best Chief Referee by local tournament supporters and fellow karatekas.
He has established eight dojos on a regional scale. He is the chief instructor
of Black Dragon Karate International and has been more of a father
to the students of BDKI, who have enjoyed much success under
his leadership. Master Degazon plans to open several more
dojos throughout the Caribbean and on a worldwide basis.
He intends to make LINJITSU the common culture of all nations.
